The iPod mini, an offshoot of the third generation, is small enough to fit in a shirt pocket. Its smooth, ultra-thin, anodized aluminum case comes in five different colors. The original model houses a 4GB drive that can hold about 1,000 songs — as much as the original 5GB model; newer models sport a 6GB drive that holds about 1,500 songs. (An iPod mini can fit more songs in the same amount of space because Apple introduced a better compression format called AAC in second-generation models. The Windows XP network bridge option is similar to a typical network bridge. It connects different network segments into a single network, appearing to exist as a single network subnet. This can have some benefits for small office and home office (SOHO) networks. The technology allows different network media to be bridged as well, which might include Ethernet, FireWire, and wireless Ethernet.

Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) This service is Microsoft’s implementation of a name resolution mechanism to match IP addresses to NetBIOS computer names and vice versa. WINS servers can greatly reduce NetBIOS traffic on networks by decreasing the amount of broadcast traffic that occurs when computers attempt to resolve unknown NetBIOS computer names to IP addresses. For an Active Directorybased network in Windows 2000/2003 native mode with no applications that require NetBIOS, nor any legacy Windows clients, WINS becomes unnecessary.
